We come to this chip shop/restaurant every other week and have been so for over 5 years, chips and fish are absolutely great, but I must say that tonight, I don't know if you have changed the oil to a new one or have changed the potatoes but tonight for the first time ever, I didn't enjoy the chips, it won't stop us coming to the restaurant but things didn't taste the same ???

Yes, we waited for 15-20 mins for the food, a bit long. BUT the chips were piping hot and crispy. Obviously it was just out of hot oil pot. Then we felt, OK, it worth the wait.The fish is as fresh as you can get, I have to say many famous fish and chips in London don't have their fish this fresh. The batter is also nicely crispy, not at all over-wet inside nor greasy outside. Staffs are very friendly and they know their local routine customers.We ordered some salad to balance the diet; the salad is a little bit like kabab shop salad, but anyway, you don't go to restaurant for its salad. It does its job: balance our diet.

The food is excellent. Haddock and chips with peas was as good as anyone could have hoped for. The problem however was the service.The staff are pleasant and friendly but refused to understand that if you say you have half an hour for lunch, then waiting 20 mins for the fish to be cooked( when you are the only person in the restaurant) isn't the best way to enjoy a meal.To conclude, I thoroughly recommend the food but this isn't the restaurant for you if you are in a rush.

Was looking for a new fish and chips to try and came across this hidden gem. How i did not discover this place before.upon arriving we were greeted by a friendly guy named Barry , lovely ,friendly and very welcoming , these guys have a passion for what they do and it shows in the quality of not only there food but also their customer service , only thing I cannot comment on is consistency as it’s my first time eating here however I will definitely be visiting Barry and the team again at the Eltham grill house huge thanks

The staff are very friendly and they have a takeaway section separate from the dining in restaurants which is immaculately clean and very nicely done out to create a relaxing atmosphere with nice lighting and comfortable seats. I shared a calamari starter and these were piping hot crisp on the outside and beautiful fresh squid inside. I had a large cod and chips with salad and my daughter had a standard size cod and chips and even the standard size was pretty big. We didn’t have to wait too long for our food and it was beautifully cooked to perfection and the fish was very large and extremely delicious the batter even stay crispy right to the last mouthful. Prices are reasonable for what you get and I would highly recommend it if you are a fish and chips lover.

I have used this place for almost 30 years the food has always been up to a good standard. I made the mistake of ordering through Uber eats twice the only way to get your food delivered warms and edible is by paying for premium delivery charges. My food arrived stone cold and with a message on my dessert to microwave it no thanks avoid unless you like cold food or want to pay a premium for delivery and warm food the service is a joke I have binned the food and won't be using Eltham grill again. Rubbish delvery and stone cold food not for the first time.

Diner style seating.Fish and chips is the speciality but there is plenty more to choose from, including grills and fry ups. Has been established for many years. The food is good. The staff are helpful and curtious. The prices are very reasonable.

One of the worst fish and chips I have had recently.£8 for a piece of fish the size of a chicken thigh. A £4 chicken burger which was a cheap chicken steak normally find them for £1-2 and the chips were dry and like they had been there for a while

I can’t express how amazing this restaurant is.First of all, the food is ALWAYS cooked fresh, the fish, chips, sausage in batter - the lot. The fish is sourced carefully from billings gate market so there is no frozen fish cooked. All the food they cook is always fresh (never frozen), so the quality is amazing.The staff are amazing, Barry and his team are always kind and polite and provide the best service in the restaurant and in the take away.My Nan introduced me to this restaurant 4 years ago and I’ve made so many memories with her here, she sadly passed away recently but I’m lucky that I can go back to this restaurant with all the memories I have with her.Me and my partner go here at least once a month (recently through take away because of lockdown) but there is no where else I would rather go.The price for the fish is slightly higher than most places but it’s money well spent as you are paying for fresh high quality food. All of the other food is around the same price as other places but again, the quality is a lot better than other place.Thankyou Barry and your team for providing Eltham with a great restaurant.

Last time I purchased Rock and chips from here is was lovely.Today purchased Rock, Cod and large chips. Not nice Rock at all. To call it small was an understatement, had to be the smallest piece of rock I have ever seen. Also over cooked and didn't taste nice at all. It was half the size and thickness of the small cod.This has put me off purchasing from here again. Certainly was worth the money I paid for it..Shame as I loved it last time!!...Update:I went in today and the manager was very apologetic. It wasn't the restaurant who undercut my last piece of rock but the supplier.I was offered another freshly cooked rock. I was also given freshly cooked chips and a orange tango. I really appreciated this although was quite happy to pay for the chips and tango. They would not accept this, so gave me the whole meal.This has always been the best fish and chip shop in the area.Used it since I was 21 (admit not as much as in my younger days) due to moving a bit further away in Eltham.Staff have always been happy, smiling and helpful.It's also a nice place to sit down and eat, Covid allowing these days.Like to thank the manager for being so understanding, your father was also a good manager and owner.Tina.

I've been trying to look for a decent and well-priced chippy for a long time now. I've tried Eltham Grill a few times now, and it's safe to say that they never disappoint. The food is always really fresh, well portioned and full of flavour. Definitely recommend to the people of Eltham!

Since the refurbishment which was really needed after many years I still had a fantastic meal, that never changes and the liver egg, chips and mushrooms are wonderfully cooked. My partner thoroughly enjoyed her fish and chips too so 10 out 10, very well recommended!

Eltham Grill Thankyou for such a delicious meal. I honestly felt compelled to write this review as the food was absolutely 5 stars. We ordered: portion of chips, chicken shish, chicken shish wrap via Uber eats. All the items were packaged well, no soggy paper, or soggy food. The taste was fresh and the salad was very well presented. We will not hesitate to order here again.

Really very disappointing! Having looked through the menu and seen all the 5 start reviews we were looking forward to a nice evening meal. The anticipation of a medium rare rib eye really took my fancy. With table set, a nice bottle of red breathing easily ready to be poured? Alas, nearly 90 minutes later my account was telling me delivery would be 20 minutes ago? Calling just-eat to enquire as to what the issue was? Just waiting for the driver to pick up, should be another 10 minutes. I am guessing medium rare will now be stewed? We will give you£5 credit on your next order to compensate for the delay. Being a patient person I waited. Another 25 minutes later to my surprise£52.00 was credited back into my account, not as compensation by because my order was cancelled, according to just-eat, at my request. I can only guess this is there way of preventing a bad review being left on their site.In view of your response I have edited this review. If what you pointed out is correct I will try again, but not via just-eat.In response to not phoning, surely you have the customers details? Would it not be professional to inform that customer that due to circumstances beyond your control their order would not be fulfilled?
